Marvel has finally revealed when Deadpool & Wolverine is coming to Disney+. However, because this promo is related to the pottymouth humor of the film, Marvel went about revealing its November 12 release date in the porcelain bowl of a urinal ordained with Wade and Logan decorated deodorizer blocks. Maximum effort, indeed.
If you’re still scratching your head as to why Marvel would promo the film’s release date with literal toilet humor, apparently there’s a fourth-wall breaking method to their madness. According to the film’s press release, multiple sports arena bathroom stalls will have the yellow and red blocks inside their urinals. If you’re that kind of fan wondering where they can see a man about a masked horse, here’s the exact arenas and days these “sacred stalls” will be around:
October 30, 2024
- NBA’s Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers (Wells Fargo Center in Philly, PA)
- NBA’s Brooklyn Nets at Memphis Grizzlies (FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN)
- NHL’s New York Islanders at Columbus Blue Jackets (Nationwide Arena in
Columbus, OH)
October 31, 2024 (Halloween)
- NHL’s St. Louis Blues at Philadelphia Flyers (Wells Fargo Center in Philly, PA)
It seems like Marvel’s little Deadpool & Wolverine publicity stunt seems to just be placing soap bars in urinals and nothing more. Hopefully fans don’t go ape shit like when McDonald’s thought it was a novel idea to start selling Rick and Morty‘s szechuan sauce. Now that the high-brow toilet humor is done circling the drain however, a more palatable fourth wall breaking feature fans can look forward to with Deadpool and Wolverine‘s Disney+ release is a filmmaker commentary track. In it, fans can listen to audio commentary from director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds.
As mentioned above, Deadpool & Wolverine, staring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, isn’t only a rated-R Marvel film, its actually the highest grossing rated R film of all time. A feat it accomplished by edging out the equally brutal and action-packed Keanu Reeves flick, John Wick: Chapter 4. Deadpool & Wolverine‘s streaming release date comes weeks after its digital and home video releases, which also broke records as the highest-selling R-rated movie on digital. We’ll keep you posted if it goes for a hat trick on streaming service records as well.
